Job Description:

AVP, Senior Legal Counsel

Overall Purpose: We are seeking an experienced attorney with 7+ years of legal experience to provide strategic legal counsel to support AT&T’s sales to business customers, with a focus on sales to government agencies.  Preferred candidate must have extensive experience with federal government contracting, including contract formation, vendor/supplier relationships, Federal Acquisition Regulations, cost accounting standards, ethics or civil/criminal False Claims Act, cybersecurity, and familiarity navigating issues confronted by technology providers. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include but are not limited to:
Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate significant legal documents, contracts, and agreements to protect the organization’s interests.

Managing Complex Legal Matters: Oversee and manage complex legal projects, including negotiations, dispute resolution, public sector procurement, and regulatory compliance.
Providing Strategic Legal Counsel: Offer expert legal advice and guidance to senior leadership and company managers on a wide range of legal issues.
Clearance: Must have or be capable of obtaining Top Secret/SI Security Clearance.

Location: Position is based in the Greater Washington, DC area, requiring full-time office presence working with colleagues, government agency counsel, and colleagues. 

Job Contribution: This is a non-supervisory position; the candidate will work closely with colleagues.  The ideal candidate must have strong oral communications skills and a relentless passion for learning and collaborating with a desire to expand upon existing legal advising and counseling experience.  The ideal candidate will strive to provide relevant expertise and legal counsel while also developing resolutions for critical issues and implementing technology and/or process solutions.

Education/Experience: Requires a law degree and an active license in good standing to practice law. 7+ years of related experience with extensive experience with federal government contracting, including contract formation, vendor/supplier relationships, Federal Acquisition Regulations, cost accounting standards, ethics or civil/criminal False Claims Act, cybersecurity, and familiarity navigating issues confronted by technology providers.
