Are you an experienced software engineer looking to take your career to the next level? Join our team as a Principal Level Software Engineer and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our technology solutions. This role requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in software development and offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that drive our business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to gather and review software requirements and user stories, provide accurate estimates, and create detailed software design specifications. Collaborate with engineers and architects to assess and test hardware and software interactions.

  • Development Methodology Execution: Apply various programming languages to execute specific development methodologies. Create and execute automated test plans and strategies based on business requirements. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients to validate test environments, data, and results.

  • Testing and Validation: Design and implement code fixes, validate outcomes against expected results, and produce comprehensive reporting. Responsibilities may also include dynamic application security testing, interface testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and user acceptance testing.

  • Support and Deployment: Provide support for applications, solve configuration and environment issues, and assist in the software deployment process.

Job Contribution:

  • Serve as an expert-level technical professional and advisor on technical knowledge and AT&T technologies.

  • Software Development: Design, code, test, debug, and document new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality, and operational needs.

  • Technical Direction: Align development teams to a shared technical direction and partner with those teams to elaborate on the solution and its interfaces.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with portfolio stakeholders, solution, and enterprise architects to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of enablers.

  • High-Quality Code: Build high-quality code following unit testing and test-driven development practices.

  • Non-Functional Requirements: Establish critical non-functional requirements (NFRs) at the solution level and participate in defining additional requirements.

  • Code Reviews and Mentorship: Drive and participate in code and document reviews, mentoring the team in best practices.

  • Technical Issue Resolution: Collaborate with peer organizations, DevOps, and support organizations to address technical issues and provide guidance.

  • Business Needs Translation: Interpret and translate business needs into technical requirements and accurate estimates.

  • Tool and Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance.

  • Problem Troubleshooting: Work with the team to troubleshoot code-level problems quickly and efficiently.

  • Technical Expertise Application: Apply deep technical expertise to resolve challenging programming and design problems.

  • Focus on Scalability and Security: Ensure the scalability, security, and availability of all applications and processes.

  • Design and Architecture Contribution: Contribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software.

  • Technical Roadmap: Contribute to the technical roadmap and technical debt elimination, balancing time, resources, and quality constraints to achieve business and strategic goals and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development.

  • Proven track record of designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software components.

  • Expertise in applying development methodologies and creating automated test plans.

  • Strong collaboration skills with engineers, architects, and clients.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.

  • Experience with code reviews, mentoring, and best practices.

  • Proficiency in evaluating and recommending tools and technologies.

  • Strong focus on scalability, security, and performance.

Ideal Candidate Profile: Principal engineers are expected to be the elite among our engineering team, possessing a comprehensive understanding of the business, product development, and system design. They should exhibit strong core engineering skills, stay updated with current market trends, and have extensive operations experience, particularly with Azure, Kubernetes, and GitHub. Their expertise should include deep knowledge of databases and exceptional problem-solving abilities for everyday challenges. Additionally, they should maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Our Principal Software Engineering, earns between $158,200.00-$237,400.00 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
