Responsible for coordinating and supervising the maintenance of the general ledger and for the production of various resultant financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manages a group or section of general accountants in Wireless Device Accounting group. Leads complex general accounting projects.
• Supervises the work of employees responsible for reviewing and preparing Journal Entries, Account Balance Reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Managing the work and providing guidance to less experienced accountants responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and financial statements. 
• Articulates and documents appropriate accounting business requirements while participating as the SME on new product and services projects.
• Manages or supports special accounting treatments such as the accounting for various divestures or various complex industry specific accounting transactions.
• Makes decision related to product cost variance, comprehensive costing of changes to product or plant, development of parts and product costs for inventory evaluation programs and preparation for product cost targets.
• Develops and creates analysis of specific assigned items for review by senior management.
• Confer and consult management with identification and evaluation of operating/accounting issues or financial opportunities.
• Analyzes revenue results and provides explanations to leadership. Works cross-functionally with various product and segment finance teams to explain their respective financial results.
• Acts as subject matter expert on various billing platforms, revenue recognition, subsidiary and supporting ledgers, and may work on highly sensitive independent projects. Initiates process improvements to enhance the effectiveness, accuracy and performance of accounting processes.
• Utilize data analytical tools like PowerBI, SQL, Access, and other tools while automating processes:  manual journal entries, reconciliations, and reports.

• Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Supervises activities for subordinates including recruitment, training, performance evaluation; encourages professional development through job assignments and training. Influences decisions regarding the hiring, firing, disciplinary action, promotional activity, and pay decisions for subordinates.

Education:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Accounting degree / CPA preferred).

Experience:

• Requires 5-7 years experience.

Our Associate Director-Accounting, earn between $116,700 - $175,100. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
