Director of Technology – Consumer Enterprise Architecture and Strategy
Team Overview
The Consumer Enterprise Architecture and Strategy team is focused on developing and maintaining a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives, ensuring that technology investments support business growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience.The team is part of the CTX (Consumer Technology eXperience) organization which is part of the broader AT&T Technology Services organization.
Position Overview
AT&T Consumer Technology eXperience team is looking for Director of Technology who is passionate about Enterprise Architecture and strategy to lead the development and implementation of AT&T’sConsumer technology architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the company's technology architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and critical engineering roadmaps. The candidate must possess a strong telecommunications background, a deep understanding of Enterprise Architecture practices, and expertise in Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Open Digital Architecture. This role requires a visionary leader who can effectively manage a team of industry experts and communicate strategy and vision to both senior leadership and engineering leaders to drive innovation and excellence in our technology platforms.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain an AT&T Consumer Technology strategy aligned with business objectives, ensuring technology investments support growth, operational efficiency, and customer experience enhancement.
Drive enterprise-wide architectural alignment, integrating technology, people, and processes cohesively. Collaborate with business leaders, product teams, and technology stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency. Implement governance processes to ensure architectural compliance and risk mitigation.
Manage and mentor a high-performing team of architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide guidance to ensure consistent architectural practices across portfolios.
Lead enterprise transformation initiatives such as cloud migration, IT modernization, and legacy application rationalization, delivering measurable business outcomes. Evaluate emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
Communicate enterprise architectural strategies, decisions, and roadmaps effectively to executive leadership and stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders.
Develop and maintain a technology roadmap outlining the company's technology plans and priorities, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
Implement Domain Driven Design principles to improve system modularity, scalability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to ensure technology architecture meets business requirements and integrates with existing systems.
Architect and design technology-enabled business and technical information solutions across multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies.
Enforce company policies in development methodology, architecture, security, change and configuration management, and compliance.
Direct a team of one or more IT organizations, targeting 10 direct reports, typically including Associate Directors, with a total organization size of 50 or more.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
10+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Domain Driven Design, and technical strategy
8+ years of experience with leading and managing teams
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and lead change in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
In-depth knowledge of telecommunications and Open Digital Architecture standards and practices
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in thought leadership and creating high quality products
Experience in leadership with the ability to work well across business units, building relationships to deliver on joint objectives and key results
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear manner to peers, developers, and senior leaders
Strong understanding of technology trends and emerging technologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Experience with technology governance and budgeting
Strong understanding of risk management and compliance
Proven track record of successfully leading and managing a team of industry experts
Our Director-Technology, earns between $191,400.00-$287,200.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
